A new connection can be exciting. It is still reasonable to take time, keep some information private and question behaviour that makes you uncomfortable. A verification badge does not remove the need for those boundaries.
Pressure is information
Be cautious if someone demands an immediate commitment, repeatedly ignores a request to slow down or says you must keep the connection secret from everybody you trust. Respectful interest leaves room for a considered decision.
You do not need to prove that somebody has committed an offence before declining contact. Feeling pressured or uncomfortable is enough to pause a conversation. Use the platform’s controls when that helps you keep distance.
Be especially careful with money
A request for an emergency transfer, a business investment, a fee for releasing a package or payment to “complete verification” outside the platform deserves scrutiny. Do not provide your UPI PIN, banking password, OTP or remote-control access to your phone.
Do not receive or move money for a new online acquaintance. Keep platform purchases inside the actual checkout and check the order in your own account. A screenshot of a payment or an impressive job title is not proof that a financial request is safe.
Ask about inconsistencies calmly
A misunderstanding can happen, but repeated changes to basic facts deserve a clear question. Ask about the specific inconsistency rather than making a public accusation. Notice whether the response addresses your question or simply adds more pressure.
Verification covers its stated scope and date. A checked identity does not automatically confirm every family, employment or financial story. Do not let a badge be used to stop you asking reasonable questions.
Preserve relevant information and report privately
Save the profile reference and a concise account of what happened. Use the Report function or a private support ticket. Share only information relevant to the concern and avoid distributing another person’s documents or allegations on social media.
Block if you do not want further interaction through the supported member flow. The platform can review conduct on its service, but a platform report does not itself start a police complaint or recover money.
If money has already been lost
Contact the bank or payment provider promptly with the relevant transaction information. India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal provides routes for reporting financial fraud and other cybercrime. Follow the current instructions shown by the official service.
For immediate physical danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service. You can seek help while also reporting the profile to the platform. Avoid anyone who promises guaranteed recovery in exchange for another advance payment.
